Social Media Tips Robot

For all businesses, social media plays a huge role for a million and 1 reasons. Whether that be to enhance visibility or to connect with your audience. Knowing your dos and don’ts will save you from making common mistakes that a lot of people do make when starting on social media for business. So without further ado, let’s get started!

DO make sure your profiles are top notch 👌🏻

Before you think about the content you’re going to be posting, and what pictures to upload on Instagram, you need to ensure that your profiles are filled out properly. Some social profiles are a lot easier than others. For example Instagram or Twitter. It’s pretty much just a name, a profile picture and a mini one sentence biography. However, Facebook, on the other hand, will give you a whole business page to fill out. And you don’t want to be filling it out half-heartedly. You should take your time when you’re filling out this information. It may be the first thing a customer looks at, and first impressions are extremely important.

DON’Tjust focus on text in your social media posts

Use of images and videos are just as important as text. The truth of the matter is, people can get bored with reading through a post or a blog or not feel engaged through any use of graphics. It can become visually boring. You should incorporate videos and images into your social media strategy across all platforms. TIP: To add a little extra to your posts, why not use a cool font or some emojis? 🙌🏻 😎 🚀 🏆

DO use hashtags

Hashtags are a great tool to gain more attraction and to bring some fun to your posts. You can use your hashtags for relating to your audience, or you can use them to add some humour. For example, a digital marketing agency might use the hashtag ‘ #DigitalAgency’, to try and connect with a potential customer that is looking for exactly that. Hashtags are a great way to get your content found.

DON’Tfeel like you can’t learn from the experts 🤟🏻

There’s no harm in checking out what the big boys are doing. Companies such as Facebook, Snapchat, Amazon will have experts in every possible section of social media. So there’s no reason why you shouldn’t check out what they’re doing, and incorporate that into your own strategy if you think it’s a good idea. Observing the leaders will allow you to learn so much more, and better yourself in the social media world.

DO STAY SOCIAL!

Social media is about staying social… (Duh). But this means actively engaging through your social platforms. If a certain hashtag doesn’t go down well in terms of popularity, do some more research and try again with your next post. Keep the content coming without looking spammy. To avoid this, make sure you aren’t using a billion hashtags, and you aren’t posting every hour of every day. Keep it consistent, but calm, cool and collective. Reply to your direct messages and comments. Your audience will love you for it. It shows you care about them. If you’re on Twitter, go ahead and re-tweet or comment on tweets originally posted by notable figures / other companies with large followings. It’s a great way to improve your social media sociability! You could even throw in a post that’s directed at a customer.
