The Challenge The Challenge Brain Emoji

Maidenhead United FC recognised that regular, well-produced content was essential to engage their loyal fanbase, attract new supporters, and showcase sponsor partnerships. However, they faced several challenges:

Limited in-house production capacity – Without a dedicated creative team, producing high-quality matchday visuals, videos, and social content on a consistent schedule was difficult.

Content pipeline gaps – The absence of a repeatable, templated content system made it hard to keep up with the demands of a football season.

Brand cohesion – Visuals and communications varied in style, making it harder to maintain a strong, consistent brand presence across platforms.

The club needed a scalable, efficient content creation process — one that could be sustained throughout the season without overwhelming their internal resources.

The Strategy The Strategy Graph Emoji

We implemented a 48-hour monthly creative retainer to give MUFC structured, predictable support while maintaining flexibility for matchday needs. Those hours were strategically split across several key areas:

Videography & Editing

Our team attended filming sessions at Maidenhead United’s historic York Road stadium, sponsor offices, and community venues to capture a mix of match action, behind-the-scenes moments, and player interviews. Footage was then professionally edited, branded, and formatted for social media, website features, and sponsor promotions.

Templates & Brand Guidelines

We developed a full suite of editable social media templates for recurring matchday content — including match previews, team announcements, substitution graphics, and goal notifications. This not only gave the club a professional, consistent look but also allowed their staff to update and post content in real time during games. These designs also formed the backbone of refreshed brand guidelines, ensuring fonts, colours, and imagery were consistent across all communications.

Digital Matchday Programmes & Email Marketing

As a National League club, MUFC opted for virtual matchday programmes, giving fans the traditional matchday reading experience but with faster production, easier updates, and a wider reach. We mirrored the content style of printed editions while optimising layouts for mobile and desktop viewing.

In parallel, we designed reusable email templates for weekly newsletters, enabling the club to share match updates, ticket information, and community news while maintaining brand consistency.

The Results The Results Trophy Emoji

By the start of the 2025/2026 season, Maidenhead United FC had:

A complete digital content toolkit — including reusable video assets, social media templates, and email layouts.

Consistent, high-quality matchday content — boosting fan engagement and reinforcing sponsor visibility.

A scalable content workflow — empowering their in-house team to keep producing on-brand assets with minimal external input.

While our season-long partnership has now concluded, the club is in a far stronger position to manage its own marketing and fan communications going forward.

Big Gun Digital would like to wish Maidenhead United FC the very best of luck in the Enterprise National League South — and we look forward to cheering them on from the stands.

Big Gun Digital was very helpful in supporting our commercial marketing efforts, allowing us to produce video content promoting Maidenhead United Football Club’s partnership with Campaign Against Living Miserably. BGD’s staff were very attentive, and we would like to thank them for their efforts across the 2024/25 season.
