The Challenge The Challenge Brain Emoji

Before pulling the trigger on a redesign, we had to identify exactly where the “rounds” were missing the target. Our audit revealed four critical points of failure:

  1. The Identity Crisis

Four Seasons offered a wide range of services. However, in the eyes of Google and the user, they were “jacks of all trades” but masters of none. The client specifically wanted to dominate the tarmacing market. The existing site structure didn’t reflect this. When a user is looking for a specialist, they want to see a specialist.

  1. The Conversion “Black Hole”

Traffic was arriving, but it wasn’t staying. In the digital world, you have roughly three seconds to convince a user they are in the right place.

  • Unclear Messaging: Users had to hunt for the contact form.
  • Friction: There was no “quick-fire” way to get a quote.
  • Lack of Urgency: The Calls to Action (CTAs) were passive.
  1. SEO Stagnation

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the art of being found. Because the site was trying to rank for everything, it was effectively ranking for nothing at the top of Page 1. We saw service pages competing against each other. This is a common pitfall we see when delivering SEO for tradespeople.

  1. The “Trust” Gap

In the contracting industry, “Cowboy” culture is a real fear for homeowners. Four Seasons had the portfolio to prove their excellence, but it was hidden. There were no case studies, no live proof, and no social reinforcement. Without proof, you’re just another name on a screen.

The Strategy The Strategy Graph Emoji

Following a strategic briefing, our team developed a multi-front assault.

  1. Structural Re-Engineering

We didn’t just move things around; we gutted the navigation.

  • Priority Routing: We placed Tarmacing at the top of the hierarchy.
  • The “Kill” List: Services that no longer served the business’s bottom line were pruned. This improves “Crawl Budget” (how Google reads your site) and user clarity.
  • Mobile-First Approach: Knowing most homeowners search on their phones while looking at their crumbling driveways, we ensured the mobile experience was seamless.
  1. Content as Ammunition

We focused on “The Translator” approach, taking technical groundwork jargon and making it accessible.

  • Authority Pages: We built an “Overview” tarmacing page that acted as a hub for sub-services (Domestic, Commercial, Repairs).
  • Hyper-Local Focus: We ensured the content resonated with the Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire markets.

III. The Social Proof Offensive

We built a bespoke Case Studies engine. This isn’t just a gallery; it’s a conversion tool.

  • Contextual Proof: Each case study details the “Problem,” the “Solution,” and the “Result.”
  • Trust Signals: We integrated Google Reviews directly onto the service pages. According to BrightLocal, 98% of people read online reviews for local businesses. We made sure they didn’t have to leave the site to find them.
  1. Technical Superiority

To ensure the site operated at peak performance, we implemented several “Smart” features:

  • WhatsApp Integration: A “Sniper” move for lead gen. It allows users to send a photo of their driveway and get a quote instantly. This bypasses the friction of long forms.
  • FAQ Schema: We added FAQ blocks to every page. This helps Google’s AI understand the page better and often results in “Rich Snippets” (those dropdown questions you see in search results), which increases the “Click-Through Rate” (CTR).

Part 3: Deployment & Overmatch (The Launch)

Launching a site is only 50% of the battle. The other 50% is the Paid Advertising and Marketing strategy.

The team recalibrated the Google Ads account. Previously, ads were sending traffic to the homepage (a rookie mistake). We redirected that fire to our new, high-converting service pages. This lowered the “Bounce Rate” and significantly improved the Quality Score, meaning Four Seasons paid less per click for better leads.

The Results The Results Trophy Emoji

The transformation from an underperforming site to a lead engine was near-instant. By aligning the website with user intent, we achieved:

  1. Market Dominance: Four Seasons is now the “Big Gun” in tarmacing searches across Beaconsfield and High Wycombe.
  2. Reduced Friction: The WhatsApp integration alone accounted for a significant spike in initial enquiries.
  3. Scalable Foundation: The site is now a “living” asset. As they complete new projects, the Case Studies page grows, further boosting their SEO authority.

The Big Gun Difference

We don’t just “make websites.” We build digital weapons for ambitious businesses. We helped a security titan achieve a 616% ROI, and we applied that same level of aggression to Four Seasons Marlow.

“Tom, Zoe and the team at Big Gun have been looking after our website for some time, and recently carried out an overhaul in order to focus on certain areas to increase our lead conversions. After a face to face meeting to discuss target areas, the team set to work, and now, 3 or 4 months on we have certainly noticed the difference.
We are receiving a higher number of good quality leads that we have been able to convert into successful projects and satisfied clients. Overall we are extremely happy with the service and expertise Big Gun offer, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to other businesses.”
